What a Weekend!

Saturday was such a busy day! It started with me waking up at 5a so I could be at Minnehaha Academy before 6a to do a group walk. Saturday was the official 3day Expo and there were 2 training walks before the Expo started. One was 12.5 miles and the other was 6 miles. I chose to try out the 12.5 mile walk. I met 2 really cool people on the walk. One person is doing the Chicago walk and the other is doing the Minneapolis walk for the 3rd time. It was really nice to meet other people. I knew I would meet others because there is no way you can walk 12.5 miles without talking to someone. The walk went by pretty quickly too! By the time I got to around 11/12 miles my legs were tired, but I think it was because (1) I knew how close I was to the end and (2) the repeated motion without much stretching. The woman I met who is doing the walk for the 3rd time said that stretching at every rest stop (or every 3 miles) is key to making it through the 20+ miles we will be doing every day. I'm thinking, after doing the 12+ miles, that she is right about that one.

After the walk, I went home, ate lunch, took a nap, showered and left to go help Sarah set up for our Lia Sophia party. It was a great time and we have raised quite a bit of money just from the one night of selling! However, we can still raise more! If you want to order jewelry from us, follow the directions at the end of this post! The jewelry is great - I saw it all, so I can say that. :)

I woke up this morning and walked another 5 miles. I needed to do that because it was part of training and I needed to make sure my knee could make it through 2 days of walking. My knee hurt when I woke up this morning, but after putting on my knee brace it didn't hurt when I walked! And it doesn't hurt now! We'll see how things go tomorrow.

As for the Twins, I didn't watch much of them this weekend. (Can you blame me?) But here are the stats! Its getting close to the end of the month too!!! Don't forget to donate!

Back in the Swing of things

If you have been paying attention to this blog, you are noticing that I am back to updating the blog every day, or almost. That is probably because we are moved and we have internet! Yea! Though the internet is kind of lame right now. See, we got quest and quest requires a phone line to set up the internet. Well, our house is kind of old and the only working phone line on the 2nd floor is in the hallway. So we have a phone line running through the hallway and into the room we have created into an office. Oh well, it gives me internet.

I woke up early today and went to yoga again. I love going to yoga when there are only 2 people there. The instructor is able to push me a bit further than if I was in a larger class. It does suck to wake up at 530, but I feel more awake when I go to yoga in the morning than the days when I wake up at 6/615 to go to work.

Tomorrow is a walking day, but I have an event in the evening so we'll see if I actually walk or if I just stay home and study. hmm...

The Twins update is as of yesterday (June 24) because they are playing in CA and I don't feel like staying up to see the end of the game when it is 10p and they are only in the 4th inning.

MOVED!

I feel awful that I haven't been posting as much, but we have been "living" at our house and packing up the apartment at the same time. One downfall about living at the house is that we don't have internet access yet. Hopefully we'll get it all hooked up today since we have officially moved out of the apartment! I am no longer a St. Paul resident. I guess this means that I need to change my driver's license for the 2nd time in a year. I became a MN resident back in December when I change my drivers license. Now I just need my address to match. Oh well. The DMV isn't so bad when you don't have to take the written exam (like I had to do last time).

I have been walking and going to yoga on a regular basis. Don't forget that we have our first official fundraising event at Sarah's apartment building's party room this saturday! It is a Lia Sophia Jewelry party! If you are interested in coming, or if you want to place an order online because you can't come to the party, please send me a comment and I'll send you an email with all the information. I'll put the direct link to the Lia Sophia site up the next time I post! 40% of all the jewelry sales we get goes to supporting the Pink Sprinkles! Yea!!!

Away...

Hello readers. It has been a beautiful week for walking! I walked on Monday, then Wednesday, then Saturday and Sunday. Saturday and Sunday were the longer walks! Saturday my friend Jessi came over to the house and walked 9 miles with me. It was great! I love friends who are willing to spend three hours with me just walking. We were able to catch up and just chat. Plus, it was an awesome way to spend three hours with a friend and not have to spend a dime. I was really impressed with Jessi because she did an hour of yoga before she walked with me. I did that last week and was dying! I decided this past week to do yoga on Friday so I wouldn't be so tired on Sunday. I think I'm going to keep up with it.

I used to do yoga 3 to 4 times a week before I started working and I was in great shape. I guess I was also in better moods. Will said that I was a happier person when I was going to yoga. So, I'm going to start doing yoga twice a week in addition to walking. I can't even seem to walk the right number of days, but I need to do it. Yoga is just amazing. It is a time when you really can't do anything but relax and follow the flow of the movements. I just need to get myself up early enough during the week to do it, then I can do the Friday evening class I went to this past week. I can't wait! We'll see if I am in better shape when September rolls around.

I honestly have not been following the Twins much this past week. This moving thing is taking up SO much time! But, I should be all moved out of the apartment by the end of the week!

A Neighborhood to walk in

Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day to walk. Sarah and I had a great time walking around my new neighborhood then around the lake. It is so nice to finally live in an area where I can just put on my shoes and head out the door and walk! There are sidewalks on every street and paths in every direction I turn. It is amazing! I actually look forward to going home so that I can walk.

I wasn't able to walk on Sunday because of the craziness that was going on. Will and I went to buy new appliances for the kitchen. We bought a new stove and refrigerator! Both stainless steel with black accents. They look amazing in my kitchen (they were delivered today). Since I wasn't able to walk on Sunday, Will and I walked yesterday. I wanted to walk today, but things just wouldn't let me. Hopefully, I can walk again tomorrow. Maybe this time I'll walk in a different direction. The past few times I have walked the same way. I am just hoping that this weekend turns out to be nice outside. We are supposed to walk 10 miles on Saturday!! EEK!

The Twins were awful this weekend. I actually could not even bring myself to watch a single game. I hope to go to a game next week, maybe.

Life is Crazy

I feel like I am always apologizing to my readers for not posting more. I think life is finally calming down a bit. The thing that was taking up my time was our house hunt. But... we have a house! It is an awesome house! And we get to move out of this apartment. There isn't anything wrong with this apartment besides the fact that it is just too small for two people who love to read and keep the books we read. Imagine your 600sqft apartment where about 30 sq feet are taken up by bookcases alone. This does not count all our other furniture. It was time to upgrade.

And to tie this moving thing into walking, we now live in an area where I can put on my sneakers and head out and walk more than one pathway! I have a neighborhood with paths to walk through! So many options! Its a good thing now that the walks are getting longer! Tomorrow is supposed to be an 8 mile day! Lets just hope it doesn't rain. The rain has stopped me from walking almost every day this week. The last time I walked was Wednesday... I hope I can walk tomorrow, but there is a 60% chance of rain. Oh, and for those of you who aren't living in MN, this "rain" thing is more along the lines of pouring rain, wind, hail and the potential of tornadoes. Needless to say, it is not a little bit of rain. I would actually look forward to walking in the rain.

Well, here's to hoping that I can walk tomorrow!

Its June!

I would like to thank all of you who are daily/weekly/regular visitors to this website. Its nice to know that I'm not writing this just for myself (though I kind of am). I have now been walking for 2 months in training for the 60 miles I will end up walking in three and half months. So far, I have walked close to 125 miles! If this is inspiring you, there is still plenty of time to join the Pink Sprinkle team to walk on September 19-21. Just send me an email or comment on this blog to let me know you are interested in walking with us!

The Twins "Walks for a Walker" program is going well! Last night was pretty amazing. I went to the Twins game with about 10 other people and watched Alexi Casilla draw 3 walks in a row! Then Nick Punto (BOOOO!) was intentionally walked! The game was good, but long, and the Twins lost. The number of Twins walks has more than doubled in the past month. Yea! I love it when the Twins walk. It is really funny how now whenever I watch a Twins game with people they always cheer at the walks and then ask me how much money that is. Its not a lot and it could become a lot more if more people wanted to donate to my "Walks for a Walker" program. Just think... if you donated 25 cents per walk for the past 2 months that is only $41. If you donated 10 cents per walk that is only $16.40. This is definitely a situation where "Every Penny Counts." If you would like to join my "Walks for a Walker" program, I will start another count beginning June 1. If I get any responses, I will post the June 1 - present count along with the total Twins walks and total Cubs home runs. I hope you will donate! It means a lot!

My monthly request - Please donate whatever you feel comfortable with donating. I am only $1,702 from reaching my minimum goal of $2200. I would love to be able to donate more than the minimum to support Breast Cancer Research!
