Update

My life has been insane since the walk. Between my job and all the stuff I do outside of work I have virtually no time to update. As Chair of the HCBA New Lawyers Section I was given a video from my co-chair to watch. This video was mailed to her from the ABA New Lawyer's Section. It is about the impact children, teens and college students had on the civil rights movement. I highly recommend for you to watch this video:

http://www.theyhadadreamtoo.org/thad-hq.html

It is about 25 minutes. Please take the time out of your day to watch this.

Walking Map

The 3 Day has posted a map of where we will be walking this year! Please view the map to see where else we will be, besides the cheering stations. Maybe you would rather hang out and watch all the women who are walking 60 miles at a location other than the cheering station? Last year there was one cheering station that, no joke, had people lined up for over 1 mile. Talk about a pick-me-up! I hope there is another one like that this year! So, get yourself out there with all your friends, maybe grab a few treats for us walker, and cheer this strong group of people on! It is not easy to walk 60 miles over the course of 3 days.

I hope to see you out there!

1 Week Away

The walk is now 1 week away! I cannot believe that it is here already. I don't know if I am ready or not ... Seeing how I haven't walked in almost a week it is not looking like I will be as ready as I was last week. Right now my foot is kind of hurting so everyone is telling me to not walk too much before the walk. But it is taking all of my willpower to not put on my sneakers and head out in the morning for a quick 3-5 miles. Hopefully, my foot will feel better tomorrow and I can walk to the SBG International Convention. But at the rate its been going it doesn't look like Will is going to let me walk. He is the one who yells at me when I want to walk. I'll just do the best I can.

Enough complaining... the PINK SPRINKLES HAVE RAISED OVER $12,000! and we have all made the minimum goal to walk! GO PINK SPRINKLES!

Last night the Pink Sprinkles finally gathered as a whole team at Jill's house to decorate our tent covers. Last year we did white shower curtains with pink dots and poofs all over it. This year we are "sprinkling" pink ribbons all over the tents. So, each of the tent covers has pink ribbons all over them. We are also making a "donors" tent and a "fighters" tent. The donors tents will list everyone who donated to the pink sprinkles as a thank you for their support. The "fighters" tent will list anyone who has faught breast cancer. We are in the process of collecting names for our "fighters" tent. So, if you have a name you would like us to add, please just post a comment and we will add it.

Thank you to everyone for your support!

Don't forget to come to the cheering stations next week!

Cheering Stations!

Well, the 3 day is now just 12 days away. I have just about met my goal... after I actually transfer the money we raised from the silent auction to the donations. Thank you to everyone who has donated! It is greatly appreciated. Now, here is the information you have been waiting for... the CHEERING STATIONS! Yes, they have been posted! Please, please, please consider coming out and cheering for the Pink Sprinkles! If you have ever run a race, walked for a cause, you know how much cheering stations mean. Now think if you had to run that race for 8 hours a day for 3 days...

Here they are:

Friday, August 21
8:45a - 11:00a -- Lake Harriet Bandshell! I get to walk close to my house!
11:15a - 3:00p -- Gold Medal Park at 2nd Street South and 11th Ave South (so if you are at work in downtown, try to make it there!)
Hint: we are ending our day at Macalester College ... so maybe you can make your own cheering station around there?

Saturday, August 22
7:15a - 9:15a
Holiday Inn Express in Vadnais Heights 1100 County Road E
10:45 - 3:30
St Paul Regional Water Services
1900 Rice Street, St. Paul

Sunday, August 23
7:30a - 9:30a
North St. Paul Tap & Grill
2379 McKnight Road North, St. Paul
11:00 - 3:00p
Indian Mounds Park
1113 Mounds Blvd, St. Paul

And... if you want to come to the final ceremonies they are going to be at the State Capitol at 4:30. If things go like last year, I hope to be at the Capitol by 2:30! Lets just hope I can make it all 60 Miles again! With your support at the cheering stations, I know I can do it!

The End of Walks for a Walker

The Walks for a Walker program has ended for another year. Luckily this year the Twins did a lot better than last year, so that means that there has been more money raise for the length of time than last year! This year the Twins had 386 walks from the start of the season until the July 31 game vs the Angels). The Farm Teams had 1357 walks. Rochester ended with 307 walks, New Britain had 358 walks, Fort Myers had 341 walks and Beloit had 351 walks. And my favorite stat: Delmon Young walked 7 times.

If everyone donates according to what they said they would at the beginning of the season, I should have raised close to $700.00! You guys are amazing!

Here is the breakdown -

Will (0.50/walk) - $193.00
SBG+little SBG (0.15/walk)- $57.90
Andrew (0.025 euro/walk) - $11.58 or 9.65 euro
Banjo (0.05/walk) - 19.30
Rhubarb Runner (0.10/walk) - $38.60
E-6 (0.05/walk) - $19.30
Jeff A (0.02/farm team walk) - $27.14
Algonad (0.05/walk) - $19.30
freealanzo (0.05/walk + 0.05/Delmon walk) - $19.30 + 0.35 = $19.65
new britian bo (0.05/walk) - $19.30
Barry hess (0.10/walk) - $38.60

Some other stat I was tracking:
The Cubs hit 115 home runs
The Red Sox hit 119 home runs

Thank you, everyone, for your support. You can donate either by clicking on the link on the right side of this blog and it will bring you to my donation page, or you can go to www.the3day.org and search for my name and then scroll all the way down to the bottom of the donation page and download the form to mail in a check.

I have had a ton of fun this year tracking the walks. It is so much more fun watching a Twins game when you have something to get excited about even when they are losing. If you are interested, my favorite Twin, Justin Morneau had the most walks, 55. Denard Span came in second with 43 walks, and Michael Cuddyer was tied with Joe Mauer for third with 40 walks. And OF COURSE, Delmon Young has had the fewest walks - 7.

I will continue posting until the walk occurs on Aug 21, 22 and 23. Thank you one more time! You guys are great!

Silent auction total, walking, etc.

The silent auction ended last Thursday night. If you have not been contacted about how to pay, please let me know by posting in the comment section. It looks like we raised about $1260.00! Sweet considering how much some of us have left to raise (like me...). So if you notice that someone has a lot left to raise, please donate. Thanks!

This past weekend I went up to a cabin in lake/cabin country. It was great to get out of the city and turn my cell phone off. Literally my cell phone was in the OFF position for 2 days straight! I also walked a lot. I walked 10 miles on Saturday and 6 miles on Sunday. While that isn't that much considering I should have walked 18 on Saturday and 15 on Sunday, I wasn't in the mood to do it. I would rather spend my time on the lake catching fish, which is exactly what I did. We caught SO much fish! Man, if i could spend a week in the summer fishing I would be happy (so long as it was in the low 80s and sunny like it was this weekend). But, alas I cannot do that. Oh well.

It appears as if the Cubs are hitting more home runs now. For a long time they were stuck at 99, then now they are up to 106. So, that's good for the donation thing.

Twins walks: 373
Delmon Young walks: 7 (1% of all the walks)
Red Sox home runs: 113
Farm Team walks: 1298

Just to let everyone know, my "Walks for a Walker" program will be ending on July 31.
