Things have been absolutely insane around here. I have been walking the required amount, or trying my best to walk the required amount. Hopefully things will calm down after this weekend so I can write more for you to read. As for now you are just going to have to accept the following Twins/Cubs update.

Finally an update
Sorry I haven't posted in a while but I haven't been too inspired to post. Life has been kind of crazy. Sunday I did walk my 5 miles and Saturday I did do around 5/6. So at least I'm walking. I didn't get a chance to walk today because I was in meetings all day then had a dinner meeting that took me until 8p. I guess that means that I'm going to need to walk 3 miles tomorrow as well as 15 mins of some other form of cardio. It shouldn't be too bad. Plus it is supposed to be nice outside tomorrow.
The Twins have been on fire with their walks. The Cubs have also been on fire with their homeruns. I'm pretty happy about that. I love knowing that for each walk and home run a little bit of money is going to breast cancer research and support for those who have it.
I'm always looking for new people to donate. Its never too late to join my "walks for a walker" program!

Beautiful
I think spring has finally arrived in Minnesota. At least that is what I'm telling myself today. Yesterday the high was 73!!! It was amazing! Then on Thursday it was in the upper 60s. Today it is supposed to be in the upper 60s too. And ... very little rain! That means that I can walk outside!
Thursday I took my favorite walk in St. Paul. I walk from my apartment to Mac. Then Will drives me home. It is such a pretty walk when it is nice outside. I know it wasn't exactly 5 miles, but 4.5 is close enough, right? This is the second time I have done this walk in a week and both times it took me just over an hour. That must mean that I'm walking close to 14 mins/mile. Not too shabby.
As of right now (being 720a) it looks like it will be another nice day for a walk outside. Today is another 6 mile day. I'm not quite sure where I'm going to do my walk, yet. One thing I do know is that it will be outside! This just means I need to start wearing sunscreen on my walks. If you have any good suggestions for 'athletic' type sunscreen please let me know. I'm just used to my Banana Boat. But I typically am not exercising when I'm wearing it.

Great Friends!
First, since I didn't post yesterday I have to wish Greg a happy birthday. He turned 22 yesterday. Greg was so happy that Will and I waited until November to get married so that he would be 21 when he went to New Orleans.
I was supposed to walk yesterday, but after work I went to meet the professor I used to work for when I was in school. Instead of walking, I ate sushi and heard great stories about a Japanese fisherman saving Japan from the Russians. I always find it interesting to hear stories from professors and teachers. Most of them lead such interesting lives before they entered academia. Of course you are going to have the really boring ones, but for the most part, professors are very interesting people.
Today was a beautiful day, so I went for a walk around downtown. I know I didn't walk 3 miles, but I walked for over half hour. I guess that is a good thing. I was out and about. Tomorrow is supposed to be a 5 mile day. We'll see what the weather does. I hope I can walk outside again.
As for the subject line of this post. I have some great friends who have supported me in this walk. I have been very suprised to get the donations I have from my friends and the support they are giving me. When I don't want to walk, I think about how many people out there are interested in how far I walk and the contributions they have made. Because of them, I will continue to train for this walk. No matter how tired I am, or how much work I have to do, or just because my sofa looks comfy, I will walk when I'm supposed to walk because my friends are out there supporting me. So, to those who have helpd, and those who are considering donating, THANK YOU! Every dollar I get is just one more walk that I am encouraged to complete.

Busy Weekend
I knew I wouldn't have much time to post this weekend, so I have a lot to catch up on now. I did a lot of walking this weekend. I missed my walk on Thursday, so Friday I had to walk at least 4 miles. I decided that I needed to walk somewhere instead of just a loop. Will was working so I walked from my apartment to Will's office. From my apartment to Will's work is exactly 4.01 miles, according to www.mapmyrun.com. Then Friday night Marisa came in! Marisa agreed to walk with me on Saturday. Saturday was the first official Pink Sprinkle team walk. Marisa and I met with Sarah, Jodi and Melissa to walk around Lake Calhoun. We did 2 laps around Lake Calhoun. We were supposed to walk 6 miles, however the walking path around Lake Calhoun is 3.1 miles around and we had to get there. I figured we walked 6.5 miles on Saturday. Finally, on Sunday I walked with Jodi around Centenial Lakes. We walked about 4 miles Sunday. I can't believe I actually walked 14 miles in 3 days. That is great because I'm going to need to do 4 times that amount in 4 months. GO PINK SPRINKLES! I think if we keep training like this we will be all set for the walk in September.
As for the Twins, I think they have been reading my blog because all of a sudden they are walking! I know you have been waiting for this, so here are the Twins and Cubs updates.

Not inspired
I am sorry I'm not writing more recently, but I'm just not inspired to write that much. I have been staying up late watching Twins games (in case you missed it Gomez hit for the cycle yesterday) and waking up early to go to work. BUT tomorrow Marisa comes in!!!! Marisa is visiting Will and I for the weekend! She is going to walk with us on Saturday and if I can convince her, maybe Sunday.
I didn't get to walk today, but I'll walk tomorrow... Then Saturday and Sunday.
Oh! Everyone wish my grandfather a happy birthday! He turns 85 tomorrow!!
Here are your Twins and Cubs updates:

Sorry for the Break
I decided to take a few days off from blogging just because there was nothing really to write about. I did go to the Twins game on Sunday, but alas, it was a game where the Twins earned no walks. So, what was the point of writing. Of course, the game was AMAZING! If you missed it, the Twins came back from a 6 run loss to win the game. It was great!
Yesterday, the Twins walks managed to earn them a run. Otherwise the game would have been a no hitter.
Nothing much else is going on... I am doing a group walk this weekend, rain or shine! So, if you are in the Twin Cities and want to join the Pink Sprinkles on a 6 mile walk, send me a comment!

Another 5 mile day
Today was another day where I walked 5 miles on the treadmill. I don't know what I would do if it weren't for "Step Up and Dance" on Bravo. 5 miles takes me about an hour and 20 mins, and just having something to watch for an hour makes those first 4 miles go by pretty painlessly. There were two funny women in the gym today that kept me company for a little while. We were talking musicals and how we are excited to see "The Color Purple" when it comes here next year.
I think I like "Step it Up and Dance" so much because I love musicals and musicals incorporate all sorts of dancing. I love musicals! My favorite one is "The Sound of Music" followed by "The Music Man." When I was little I used to make my sister rent "The Sound of Music" almost every time my parents went out of town. See, "The Sound of Music" was on 2 tapes and that meant that we had entertainment for 2 nights. Also, I love the music and Julie Andrews. I grew up with Julie Andrews entertaining me. I was actually really really sad when she had surgery on her throat and was left unable to sing. I was almost as sad that day as the day when Jim Henson died and when Charles Schultz wrote his last "Charlie Brown" comic strip.
Well, enough about me babbling about my childhood... here are the Twins and Cubs updates:

Today was an Exiciting Day
Today I was supposed to do my 30 mins of cardio, but I (1) didn't have time and (2) way too excited to go down to the gym. You are just going to have to hang in suspense and visit my blog frequently to see if I tell you why I was so excited. The reason I didn't have time was because of traffic. Yup, when it rains in Minnesota it takes me an hour to get home. That is not fun when you have a date scheduled for 8p and you get home after 6. See, if you are a girl you need at least an hour an half to get ready for a date (even if it is with your husband).
Will and I went to an AMAZING restaurant in St. Paul tonight called Heartland. They have an amazing menu that changes every day according to whatever fresh ingredients the chef gets in that day. All his food comes from the Midwest area and he only serves food from local farmers who bring their products to him. It was one of the best meals I have had in the Twin Cities. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a special night out.
My walking hasn't really changed much. Still on a treadmill ... the weather here can seem to convince itself that it is May and it should be nice outside. Or at least if it is raining then the temperature should not be so close to freezing that snow is in the forecast. So, I guess my 5 miles tomorrow will be on a treadmill again. Great! (Can you feel my excitement?!).
And here is your Twins and Cubs update.
Twins walks as of 5/2/08: 61
Cubs home runs as of 5/2/08: 32
PS - just to let you guys have a comparison -- the Twins currently only have 14 homeruns this season. Yup, maybe there is a relationship between homeruns and walks.
